The style of Victor Vasiukevich can hardly be described as abstract art. It would be more precise to call it "energy", "cosmic" or "esoteric" painting. The artist doesn't accept any perfection of forms. His canvases are an infinite stretch of imagination. Victor Vasiukevich refers to his own artistic manner as "materialized music". "My style is an attempt to make painting resonate like music but not reflect any particular place and time," points out the artist, "So that each tiny detail and the entire artwork resonate, alter and interchange. I do not know maybe it's arguable or idealized, but I feel like my paintings are of another dimension". Victor Vasiukevich started his journey as an artist creating more figurative paintings with elements of surrealism and phantasmagoria. In his recent abstract works Victor tries to reflect the harmony of outer world he managed to perceive, in contrast to near-realistic practices which acknowledge earthly struggle of opposites. The cyclical structure of his cosmic canvases and even distribution of patterns all over the surface do not make possible any disharmony and disruption of the integrity of the composition. It’s like every inch of his paintings includes the entire philosophy of the universe. Нis style is close to the ideas of New Age movement and refers to works by well-known Indian master Sri Chinmoy. On the other hand he carried on the tradition of music painting started by Lithuanian artist M. K. Ciurlionis. |
